Lead pricing options

Three ways to get leads from Google. In two of them we fund the ads and the website, and in the third you fund the ads on your own account. None of them come with a monthly retainer.

01WE FUND ITCORE SERVICE

Exclusive Leads

We build a dedicated website for your service with your branding, run Google ads to it in your city, and every enquiry that site generates goes to you alone. It is never shared with or sold to another business. We pay for the ads and the site. You pay a set price for each qualified lead.

HOW IT WORKS
01We set up the campaign and a dedicated site for your service, like palmerstonnorthconcreting.co.nz.
02Homeowners searching for your service see the ad, then call or send a quote request through that site.
03Every lead from your site comes to you and nobody else.
04You get one invoice a month for the qualified leads you received, and you can dispute any lead that isn't relevant.

SUITS YOU IF

You want a steady flow of enquiries without paying for advertising up front. It also suits you if you don't have a website yet, because we build one for you.

02WE FUND IT

Pay Per Job

The same setup as Exclusive Leads, with a different way to pay. We cover the ads and the website, and there is no charge per lead. You pay an agreed percentage of the invoice for jobs we booked for you. If a lead does not turn into work, it costs you nothing.

HOW IT WORKS
01We set up the campaign and your dedicated site.
02We set up a CRM to track each lead through to a booked job, or connect to the one you already use.
03You quote and do the work as normal.
04Each month you pay the agreed percentage on invoiced jobs that came from our leads.

03YOU FUND IT

Managed Ads

Google ads run properly on your own ad account, sending traffic to your own website. You pay Google directly for the ad spend, and pay us a flat fee for each lead, agreed up front. Because you cover the clicks, the fee per lead is much lower, and there is still no monthly retainer.

HOW IT WORKS
01We set up your Google Ads account, or take over the one you have.
02We build campaigns around the jobs you want, pointed at your website.
03You pay Google for the clicks, straight from your card.
04We invoice a flat fee for each lead at the end of the month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing
How much does a lead cost?
It depends on the pricing option you choose and your trade and city. A house washing lead in Palmerston North is going to be a lot cheaper than a re-roof lead in Auckland. Under Exclusive Leads, qualified leads generally run $50 to $250 each depending on your trade and city, and under Managed Ads it's generally $50 to $150 per lead plus your own ad spend. Under Pay Per Job there's no per-lead charge at all, you pay an agreed percentage only when a lead becomes a booked job. See the full breakdown on lead generation pricing.
Is there a setup fee, and how much is it?
Yes, all three ad-based options have a one-off setup fee, agreed per trade. Exclusive Leads is generally $500 + GST, and Managed Ads starts from $1,000 + GST; Pay Per Job also has a one-off setup fee starting at $1000+GST. There's no ongoing monthly fee on top besides the agreed cost per lead.
Are there any monthly retainers or hidden fees?
No, there's no monthly retainer on any of our options. You pay a one-off setup fee, then only for the qualified leads, or booked jobs (depending on the price option you selected), you actually receive. What you'll pay is agreed upfront before we start, so there are no surprise costs later.
How much should a tradie budget for leads per month?
It depends on your trade, your city and how many leads you want. As a rough guide, with 5 to 50 leads a month at roughly $50 to $250 each under Exclusive Leads, monthly spend can range from a few hundred dollars up to a few thousand. Talk to us about your trade and city and we'll give you a realistic number.
How does lead generation in NZ compare to running Google Ads yourself or hiring an agency?
Running Google Ads yourself means paying for every click whether it turns into a job or not, plus the time to build and manage campaigns. That's time you're not on the tools. Most agencies charge a monthly retainer or management fee regardless of results. With us, there's no retainer and no cost for clicks that don't convert, you only pay for the qualified leads, or booked jobs, you actually receive.
Exclusivity
Are the leads exclusive to me?
Yes, under Exclusive Leads and Pay Per Job, we only work with one business per trade, per city, so every lead from your campaign goes to you and nobody else. Managed Ads is not exclusive because it runs on your own ad account rather than a campaign and website we allocate exclusively.
Do you work with my competitors in the same city?
Not under Exclusive Leads or Pay Per Job, we only take on one business per trade, per city, so if you're signed up for those pricing options we won't take on a direct competitor in your area for that trade. Managed Ads works differently since it runs on your own ad account rather than a shared campaign and website we exclusively allocate.
What happens if another tradie in my city and trade already works with you?
For Exclusive Leads and Pay Per Job, that spot is taken and we won't take on a second business in the same trade and city. Ask us anyway, because trades and coverage areas vary, and Managed Ads may still be available since it isn't exclusive. Get in touch and we'll tell you straight whether your area is open.
What's the difference between exclusive leads and managed ads?
With Exclusive Leads, we fund the Google Ads and build the website plus cover all the outgoings, and every lead goes to you alone, you pay a set price per qualified lead. With Managed Ads, we run Google Ads on your own ad account and website, you pay Google directly for the clicks, and it isn't exclusive to you in your city. You still pay us per lead, but it's a lower amount given you are covering the ad spend yourself. See the full comparison.
Our three models
What's the difference between Exclusive Leads, Pay Per Job and Managed Ads?
Exclusive Leads: we fund the ads and website, you pay a set price per qualified lead, exclusive to you in your city. Pay Per Job: same setup, but you only pay an agreed percentage when a lead becomes a booked job. Managed Ads: we run ads on your own website and ad account, you pay Google directly for clicks plus us a flat fee per lead to us, and it isn't exclusive. See the side-by-side comparison.
Which option is best for my business?
It depends on how much risk you want to carry and whether you already have a strong website and ad account. Exclusive Leads suits most tradies who want a steady flow of inquiries without paying for advertising upfront; Pay Per Job suits those who want zero risk on marketing and are happy to share a slice of the jobs it wins; Managed Ads suits businesses with an established brand who want their own website and ad account and a lower cost per lead. Tell us your trade and city and we'll recommend one straight.
How does Pay Per Job work, and what percentage do you charge?
We cover the ads and website at no charge, and you pay us an agreed percentage of the invoice only when a lead turns into a booked job, if it doesn't convert, it costs you nothing. This is only available on an application basis as it involves a lot more risk on our end. We have to fully trust and believe in your ability to convert leads into paying clients.
Who owns the website and ad account under each option?
Under Exclusive Leads and Pay Per Job, we own and host the website and ad account, built with your branding. Under Managed Ads, the website and ad account are yours, in your own name.
Can I switch between options later?
This would be done on a case-by-case basis. Get in touch and we can talk through what would suit you best as your business changes.
Lead quality and follow-up
How do you make sure leads are genuine and in my service area?
Our Google Ads campaigns are targeted at your trade and your city, so the people clicking through are already searching for that specific job in your area. We only target high intent search terms like 'concrete driveway services near me', or 'house painting company near me'. Not broad searches like 'concrete driveway options' or 'best colour to paint your house'. This ensures most of the leads that come through are highly qualified.
How do you filter out tyre-kickers and price shoppers?
This is primarily done through the types of search terms we target. We only target high intent search terms like 'concrete driveway services near me', or 'house painting company near me'. Not broad searches like 'concrete driveway options' or 'best colour to paint your house'. This ensures most of the leads that come through are highly qualified. The goal is to only send you inquiries from people who are genuinely ready to get quotes for the work you do. We also have an automated dispute system that you get access to.
How do I receive the lead details?
The leads will be sent you to either directly to your email inbox, or as phone calls to your mobile.
How fast should I respond to a lead?
Within the hour ideally. Most home owners will contact a few different companies and more often than not, it's the first company to respond to them that get's the job. At the very latest it should be the same business day. Any later than that and they've almost certainly picked a competitor of yours.
Are these shared leads like Builderscrack or Trade Me, or exclusive?
No. Under Exclusive Leads and Pay Per Job, a lead goes to you and nobody else, unlike marketplaces where the same job is sent to multiple tradies to quote against each other. Managed Ads isn't exclusive in the same way since it runs on your own account, but it still isn't a shared-marketplace model.
What if a lead turns out to be a dud or a duplicate?
You can dispute any lead that isn't relevant. But if it's a genuine inquiry, they just didn't end up converting into a job, that would still be billable. You won't convert every single inquiry into a job, that's just how it works.
Comparisons
Pay-per-lead vs retainer: which is better for tradies?
With pay-per-lead, you only pay for the inquiries you actually receive, so your cost tracks your results. With a retainer, you pay the same fee whether the work delivers five leads or none, which puts more of the risk on you. For most tradies wanting to control cash flow, paying only for qualified leads is the lower-risk option. Virtually every tradie we talk to that has worked with an agency before complains that they didn't like having to pay a fixed monthly retainer regardless of any leads coming in or not. So we decided to fix that.
Lead generation agency vs lead marketplaces like Builderscrack: what's the difference?
Lead marketplaces send the same job to multiple tradies, who then compete on price to win it. With Leads For Tradies, under Exclusive Leads and Pay Per Job, every lead from your campaign goes to one business per trade, per city, so you're not bidding against other tradies for the same inquiry.
